The magical cycling adventure known as the Friday Night Ride to the Coast (or, FNRttC for short) all began in 2005.

Since then, we've done over 225 night rides... from London to Brighton, Whitstable, Felpham, Southend-on-Sea, Burnham-on-Crouch, Emsworth and Newhaven... and explored further afield from York to Hull... Cardiff to Swansea... Manchester to Morecambe.

We’ve extended our run to Newhaven for some riders to carry on to Paris.

We've even gone on tour (in daylight!) from London to John O’Groats. We've explored Normandy, ridden from Caen to Bordeaux, from Cherbourg to Hoek van Holland via Amsterdam (in two stages), from Hoek van Holland to Dunkirk the scenic way via Tilburg, Eindhoven, Venlo, Cologne, Aachen, Maastricht, Leuven, Ghent and Bruges, then a variation in reverse from Dunkirk to Hoek van Holland via Ostend, Ghent, Leuven, Maastricht, Eindhoven and Breda.

The Friday Night Ride to the Coast sets off at midnight and rides through the night at a conversational pace, arriving at the coast in time for breakfast. This is a group ride. We may spread out a little, but every few miles the front of the ride stops and waits for the tail to catch up.

We stop for coffee and a bite to eat about midway.

Our magnificent Tail End Charlies look after the slower riders and help with mechanicals and punctures. The Wayfinders stand at turns and junctions and point out the road ahead.

The FNRttC is run by The Fridays, a cycling club affiliated to the CTC.

Registration for rides is essential and third party insurance is required.
